Addressing “Wicked” Problems and Opportunities

Join us for the inaugural Event Management Conference (EMC) 2024, the official conference of Event Management Journal (EMJ). Our goal is to utilize EMJ’s position as the leading international journal for the study and analysis of events, to host the leading intellectual space that brings together scholars and practitioners from around the world to discuss, debate and tackle today’s event-related challenges.

EMC ’24 aims to delve into the most pressing societal and economic issues associated with event studies, whether that’s past, present, or future. EMC welcomes those studying various types of events, in different settings, and across a wide range of disciplines, as reflected in our Call for Papers, and the various contributions we seek to include – from research talks, fireside chats, roundtable discussions, stimulating debates to compelling keynote speaker presentations, and more!

Hosted by the University of Central Florida at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, located in the heart of Orlando, adjacent to Disney, Universal Studios, Sea World, and Central Florida’s beautiful natural settings – EMC’24 will provide delegates with a range of social options for you and your family. This includes developing a unique social program (launched November 27, 2024) related to the conference: working with local operators to develop a pre-conference tour package, social activities during the conference, and a post-conference tour package.

EMC’s vision

To be the leading intellectual space to share event-related ideas, research, work and practices – to collectively transform the way we think about and do events so we can optimize the power and potential of events for social and economic good, whilst also challenging them to be better with evidence-based and research-informed solutions.

Who is EMC for?

Everyone who has ideas, research, works that relates to events of all shapes and sizes and across diverse disciplines (e.g.: social sciences to arts and humanities, psychology) and fields (e.g.: business, sports, culture, tourism, hospitality, politics, transport).

EMC’s values – what do we stand for?

Although this is an academic and industry focused conference, we want to create a rigorous and constructive yet open and jovial atmosphere of sharing our ideas, research, work and practices, and have fun with it through a strong experience and experiential side to the conference with a mix of traditional and innovative social activities delegates can do before, during and after the conference and in the evening time with colleagues, friends and family.

The Event Management Conference 2024 is the official conference in collaboration with the leading international peer-reviewed journal for the study and analysis of events and festivals, Event Management.
